US Plains HRW wheat bids steady

Published November 19, 2017 Updated November 19, 2017 12:00am

Spot basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat in the southern US Plains were steady on Thursday, a day after isolated increased miller demand supported protein premiums, dealers said. "Some flour mills may be nervous that they won't have what they need before the Thanksgiving holiday," a merchant said.
Protein premiums for railcar wheat with 11.20 percent protein to and through Kansas City on Wednesday were up 2 cents per bushel. Wheat with 12.00 to 12.20 percent protein rise 12 cents per bushel. Other protein level requirements were steady.
Thursday morning's US Department of Agriculture weekly export report showed US wheat sales for the week ended November 9 at 519,300 tonnes (old and new crop years combined). That was in line with trade expectations for 350,000 to 550,000 tonnes. Chicago Board of Trade K.C. December HRW wheat closed down 3/4 cents at $4.17 a bushel, in quiet activity.
