The passing away of IoBM Founder President Shahjehan Syed Karim; well-known for his pioneering role in education as well as his career in the Civil Service of Pakistan and with the United Nations, was widely condoled and his funeral was largely attended at IoBM campus on Tuesday by students, parents, faculty, management, staff, alumni, members of the Board of Governors and those from the corporate sector, according to IoBM Public Affairs Section.
Shahjehan Syed Karim joined the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1957 for over 37 years, holding a number of senior positions with the Government of Pakistan, including Federal Secretary Information, Chairman PTV and PBC, as well as with the Government of Sindh from where he retired as Chief Secretary in 1994.
He also worked with the United Nations as an International Civil Servant for almost a decade. He was a graduate of the University of Arizona, USA and also studied Public Administration at Cambridge University, UK; Transportation Management at the University of British Columbia, Canada and was a fellow of the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank. Karim is the Founder President of Foundation for Higher Education, Institute of Business Management.
Under Karim's noble and humble guidance, IoBM has been rated as one of the top institutions in Pakistan, both by the Higher Education Commission of the Federal Government and the Provincial Government of Sindh. During its international conventions of Deans of Business Colleges, Eduniversal has awarded IoBM 2 Palms as one of the two best Business Schools in Pakistan since 2010. The Institute has been an active member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and is also associated with several other international academic organisations.-PR
