In order to look after the issues of medical education of Postgraduates, nursing and allied health sciences, a Directorate of Medical Education would be set up in Punjab. The institution would help introduce reforms in medical education, improvement of educational activities and in time admissions in different disciplines of medical profession.
It was principally decided in a high-level meeting chaired by the Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah on Saturday at Civil Secretariat. Besides Special Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Dr Sajid Mahmood Chauhan, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Professor Junaid Sarfraz Khan, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Asad Aslam Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Professor Amir Zaman Khan, Chairman Postgraduate Admission commission Committee Professor Syed Muhammad Owais, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Salman Shahid, Additional Secretary (Admin) Raja Mansoor and the officers of Punjab Information Technology Board attended the meeting.
The meeting also discussed in detail regarding the reforms in the nursing education and introduction of amendments in the syllabus of allied health sciences. It was decided that permanent office of postgraduate admission committee would be established in the University of Health Sciences Lahore. Najam Ahmed Shah also gave approval to appoint Professor Junaid Sarfraz Khan as Secretary of the PG Admission Committee.
