The Karachi Port handled 208,125 tonnes of cargo comprising 156,002 tonnes of import cargo and 52,123 tonnes of export cargo including 9,503 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 156,002 tonnes comprised of 67,025 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,854 tonnes of general cargo; 22,523 tonnes of bulk cargo: 19,043 tonnes of coal; 3,480 tonnes of soyabean meal and 47,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 52,123 tonnes comprised of 33,563 tonnes of containerised cargo and 18,560 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 9,503 containers comprising of 4,447 containers import and 5,056 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,655 of 20's and 1,222 of 40's loaded while 30 of 20's and 159 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 913 of 20's and 340 of 40's loaded containers while 893 of 20's and 1,285 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely MSC Tasmania, Wide India, Chemroad Fuji, Pacific Award, Spar Corona, Grand Pace, Bahri Yanbu and BBC Switzerland carrying containers, chemical, coal, steel, vehicle and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Kota Karim, Sima Giselle, Fuat Bey, Grand Pace and Bahri Yanbu carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
There were six ships namely Kota Karim, Sima Giselle, Northern Dependant, Cosco Haifa, MT Quetta and Star Pisces carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely YM Orchid carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. IVS Pinehurst, Good Luck-1 and Kuwana carrying coal, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while six vessels viz. Bellavia, Fowairet, Cosco Fukuyama, Hyundai Highness, Morning Glory and Pan Ivy carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 62,460 tonnes includes 36,552 tonnes of diesel oil; 12,668 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 11,160 tonnes of chemical; 600 tonnes of slag; 340 tonnes of project cargo and 1,140 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,760 tonnes includes 1,359 tonnes of sand and
41,401 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,239 containers comprising of 60 containers import and 2,179 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Al-Ghero and MV YM Miranda carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV ER Tianping carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Al-Ghero, CV Maersk Kingston, CV ER Tian Ping, MV Chance, MV Ocean Quartz, Spectrum-5, MV Baltic Winter, MV YM Miranda and MT Harmony-1 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, sand, slag, project cargo, soyabean seeds, chemical and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Maersk Semarng, MV Pacific Award, MV Fuming, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Karachi, MT Torm Valborg, MT Shalamar. MT Lahore, MT Brizo and MT CH Zephyr carrying containers, coal, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the
outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV Maersk Semarng and CV Suez Canal carrying containers respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday.
There were five ship namely CV Suez Canal, CV Quadriga, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV JI Xiang Song and MV Industrial Charger carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while two ships namely CV CMA CGM Arauco and CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
