Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif said he will visit China in May this year on the invitation of the Chinese President Xi Jinping. He will be there to attend the Belt and Road Forum for international co-operation, being hosted by the Chinese government. He will avail the opportunity to discuss various aspects of growing bilateral co-operation between the two countries under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, that is the pilot and major project of the Belt and Road initiative.
This Prime Minister stated this while talking with executive Vice Foreign Minister of China Yesui Zhang here on Monday. Zhang is here to attend ECON Summit on special invitation. Belt and Road forum will be brainstorm on interconnected development, President Xi Jinping said last month while addressing World Economic Forum in Davos. The upcoming forum will explore ways to address regional and global economic problems, generate fresh energy for interconnected development, and ensure that the Belt and Road Initiative delivers greater benefits to people of the countries involved, Xi said.
The Chinese president put forward the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, with the aim of building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient Silk Road trade routes.
