Use of marble, granite and other ornamental stones in construction has paved way for the expeditious development of stone market in Faisalabad, said Mian Muhammad Adrees Chairman Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC). Inaugurating a show room of "Kohsar Home" in posh locality of Medina Town, he said that at present Pakistan has shortage of more the one crore housing units.
"Faisalabad being the fastest growing economy has promoted the middle class who has sufficient financial resources to build their own houses in order to enjoy the benefits of economic prosperity," he said and added that houses, shops and other buildings are constructed for a longer period hence special emphasis is being laid on their strength and durability in addition to making them beautiful particularly with the use of Marble, Granite and onyx of different colours and shades.
Continuing, Mian Muhammad Adrees said that Pakistan is blessed country with huge mineral potential which are abundantly available in almost all provinces of the country. Regarding the stone industry, he said that in other developed countries, the precious stones are cut through the heavy and sophisticated machines but in Pakistan we are still detonating hills to extract these delicate stone.
He said that this industry needs latest technology to fully exploit its potential which could also be exported after fulfilling our domestic needs. He hoped that the domestic investors should come forward and invest in this sector to develop the stone industry on modern scientific lines. He appreciated the establishment of "Kohsar Home" from where all types of stones are available under one roof.
He said that this industry was also growing at a much faster pace and the shopkeepers related with this industry should form their own trade body to resolve their immediate problems. Later Mian Muhammad Adrees cut a ribbon to formerly inaugurate this shop in the commercial area of Medina Town. The function was also attended by Mian Aftab Ahmed, Mian Muhammad Rafi of Bhalwall Industry, Rehan Naseem Bhrara, Chaudary Muhammad Asghar and Abid Masood.
