Thousands mass in Moscow for pro and anti-Putin rallies

russiaMOSCOW: Thousands massed on Saturday for rival rallies in Moscow opposing and supporting Russian strongman Vladimir Putin's political domination ahead of presidential polls, police said.

 

Some 8,000 people had shown up for an opposition march towards a square just over the Moscow river from the Kremlin, while 15,000 were attending a demonstration in western Moscow supporting Putin, Moscow police said in a statement, with the rallies yet to get fully underway.
