Hina wins KP CM badminton title

Hina clinched the trophy of the ladies singles in the ongoing Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Championship, which got under way here at Hayatabad Sports Complex. Dr Maqbool, a businessman and a former provincial badminton champion, was the chief guest on the occasion and formally inaugurated the Championship. In the women category Hina defeated Farzana in a tough final by 21-18, 21-19 and 21-17. President Fata Olympic Association Shahid Shinwari was also present on the occasion. He announced Rs 2000 for all categories.
In the category of special people Nasir beat Shahnawaz in straight sets. While in Under-10 category Hamza upset Umar in another tough battle. Hamzan won 21-17, 21-18 and 21-16. Both the players are currently training at Pakistan International Badminton Academy under the head coach Irfan Afridi, Asad Ghaffar and Riaz Khan.
Dr Maqbool announced Rs 20,000 for the tournament. Earlier, DG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board Ms Rasheeda Ghaznavi paid special visit to the venue of the tournament and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. She announced to give rackets to the women players participated in the tournament. Over 100 players from 11 districts are taking part in the tournament. Finals of the doubles and singles categories will be played on Sunday.
