A PTI lady councillor candidate was allegedly gunned down on Saturday by her brother-in-law in the area of Farrukhabad near Shahdara, said the police officials. According to them, Shahida Parveen was killed by her brother-in-law, Gulzar, and his three accomplices when she was sleeping in her house.
The accused managed to flee to Narowal after commission of the offence. The police officials said the children of the alleged killer used to live with their aunt as their father, Gulzar, often tortured them. Failing to convince his children to come back to him, police said, Gulzar got furious and killed Parveen.
He was not enjoying good relations with his wife as complaints regarding their clashes were registered several times with police stations, said the sources. The officials said the police had collected evidences from the spot. Meanwhile, the dead body has been shifted to a morgue for autopsy. The police said they are conducting raids for the arrest of killers.
