A member of the five-member larger bench, Justice Amir Hani Muslim on Monday recused himself from hearing the pleas of Punjab government on construction of Orange Line Metro Project (OLMP), Lahore.
The Supreme Court has formed a larger bench comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Hassan to hear Punjab government's appeals against Lahore High Court's (LHC) verdict, which issued stay order against construction of the OLMP.
The LHC while passing decision on various petitions against the project had stopped Punjab government from constructing any structure within a distance of 200ft from 11 heritage sites, which fall in the way of 27.3-km track of the Orange Line project.
At the onset of hearing on Monday, Justice Amir Hani Muslim recused himself from hearing the case due to personal reasons.
To which, Punjab Mass Transit Authority's counsel requested the bench to resume the hearing at the earliest.
To which Justice Amir Hani Muslim said that he cannot fix the next date of hearing in the matter, whereas the case is being sent to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for further proceedings.
After a brief hearing of the case, the matter was adjourned for an indefinite period.
