PM announces one basic salary to Doctors

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday announced a grant of one basic salary for the doctors and paramedics of federal hospitals in addition to their existing salaries with effect from January 2012.

Giving a policy statement in the National Assembly regarding a point of order raised by several MNAs about strikes of doctors and paramedics staff in hospitals of the federal capital, the Prime Minister said, several meetings were held in order to provide better facilities to health professionals.

The Prime Minister also announced that meeting of the National Assembly scheduled for February 4 to pass the 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill has been postponed due to sanctity of the 12th Rabi-ul-Awal.

Minister for Religious Affairs Sayed Khursheed Shah said that the 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill would be presented in the House on February 6 (Monday) in which it would be passed unanimously.
