The homicide unit of Special Investigative Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police has claimed to have arrested the prime accused in murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) local leader in the city. Chaudhry Nisar-ul-Haq, a local leader of PTI from Gujar Khan who owned four hotels in Islamabad's Sitara Market (G-7 Markaz) was shot dead by the hotel contractors on December 9 in the limits of Aabpara police station.
On directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas, head of Special Investigative Unit, constituted a team under the supervision of in-charge homicide unit, rural circle Inspector Ulfat Arif and Inspector Basharat Ali Shah.
He said the SIU team chased the accused in Abbottabad, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Sialkot, and ultimately he was apprehended on Tuesday night when he came to meet his sister residing in Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad. The main accused has been identified as Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi son of Walayt Khan, a resident of Danna Greeni Lora, district Abbottabad. He said the accused was nominated in the case in the first information report registered under section 302/34 with the Aabpara police station.
The official said that in the initial investigation, the accused revealed before the investigation team that there was a matter of hotel security dues about Rs 3 million, which had been unresolved with the hotel owner Nisar-ul-Haq. The accused further told the police that he and the deceased exchanged harsh words several times on telephone before this incident. According to police, on December 8 when Nisar-ul-Haq visited the hotel and asked the hotel contractors to evacuate his building, the accused Shakeel took out his pistol and opened firing at Nisar-ul-Haq. The official said that Nisar-ul-Haq fell on the floor and he along other co-accused fled from the scene. The police are making efforts to arrest other accomplices. Furthermore, physical remand of the accused will be requested for the recovery of fire arms, while investigation is under way from the accused.
