Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Tuesday said that US Special Forces' raid in Abbottabad was an attack on Pakistan's sovereignty and he would raise a demand in the federal cabinet meeting to make the report of Abbottabad Commission public. Talking to media persons after addressing a passing-out parade of the first batch of Rapid Response Force (RRF), Nisar said the Abbottabad raid was the biggest attack on the country's sovereignty in the last 69 years and he would recommend the cabinet to make the Abbottabad Commission report public.
Replying to another question, Nisar, without naming Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said those who are talking about the Panamagate scandal and corruption are forgetting that their mother has also been named in the Panama Papers. Moreover, there are other corruption stories about their family and leadership. "Take your mother's case to the Supreme Court," he further said.
Nisar said the anti-corruption campaign of Pakistan People's Party is a mere eyewash, adding PPP's anti-corruption drive will be similar to Bharatiya Janata Party's decision to safeguard the rights of Muslims in India. The interior minister further alleged that government functionaries and senior officials of the previous PPP government were involved in massive money laundering carried out by Khanani and Kalia and the record of money laundering was destroyed to hide facts. "He would bring forward those who destroyed the record of money laundering," he vowed.
He further said that Ministry of Interior should be given credit for bringing back one of the main suspects, Rehman Bhola, of 2012 Baldia Town factory fire in Karachi. "The previous government did not arrest the culprit of Baldia factory fire when they fled country; therefore, give us some credit for catching the main culprit," he added. He further said that Bhola has made astonishing revelations during his preliminary interrogation.
To a question about sending Inspector General of Sindh police AD Khawaja on forced leave, Nisar said that despite the federal government's recommendations to keep the IG on his post, he was sent on forced leave. Khawaja is an honest officer and he has contributed a lot towards restoring peace in Karachi, he said.
Earlier, he said that during the tenure of previous government, bomb blasts occurred on a daily basis and the then government acted as a silent spectator. During the last three years, the law and order improved significantly in the country, he added. He said that the first batch of RRF has completed its training and another batch of 447 personnel would be imparted training soon. "Serve the nation. Stop terrorists from entering Islamabad. Establish your control in the capital," he asked the RRF.
Nisar said that over Rs 70 billion have been spent on the capacity building of Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) during the last one-and-a-half-years. The minister said that two paramilitary forces have been raised to take up internal security responsibilities from Pakistan Army. Despite the launch of operation Zarb-e-Azb, the former Army Chief spared about 34,000 troops for internal security duties. Most of them have now been sent back and presently about 10,500 are deployed for internal security in different parts of the country, he said.
