A one-day seminar on 'Emerging role of Clinical Pharmacist in Pakistan: A way forward,' was organised by Hamdard Institute Of Pharmaceutical sciences at the Hamdard University Islamabad Campus to design an action plan for pharmacy practice in Pakistan.
Pharmacy practice is an emerging field and fifth important domain in the pharmacy education in Pakistan. Hence, the Hamdard University has taken the initiative for an action-plan for pharmacy practice in Pakistan. To achieve this purpose the Institute has planned a series of seminars, workshops and round table discussions.
Speaking as the chief guest Dr Rukhsana, a clinical pharmacist at San Mateo Hospital (a county system of Healthcare) California highlighted the role of clinical pharmacist in the USA. She also presented an action plan which could be implemented in Pakistan to promote safe and rational use of pharmacist to be incorporated in diabetes care and anticoagulant therapy.
She suggested different training modules for pharmacists to promote interdisciplinary teamwork of healthcare professionals. Professor Dr Azhar Hussain Dean and Director General HUIC and Dr Madeeha Malik, director of Pharmacy department offered the platform of Hamdard for a joint venture to promote collaborative working of pharmacist in the USA and Pakistan.A Shield was presented to the guest at the end of the event.-PR
