Absence of defence secretary: PAC defers examination of audit accounts

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday deferred examination of audit accounts of ministry of defence due to absence of defence secretary from the meeting. The meeting of the committee which held here with Syed Khursheed Shah in the chair, said that the committee would consider if secretary defence sends a request for an in-camera session of PAC on defence audit.
He observed that secretary defence had been ignoring PAC meeting since long, adding the secretary defence was a retired general and a civilian and the committee could discuss audit paras in his presence. Additional Secretary Defence said that the secretary could not attend the meeting as his father passed away on October 28.
