The College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is imparting modern training of high standard to its specialists, former Principal King Edward Medical College Professor Mahmood Ali Malik, said. While speaking at an international conference on medical education, in connection with CPSP's Charter Day, Professor Malik said the CPSP is catering the needs of specialists at home and abroad.
The moot was attended by heads of medical institutions, senior professors and foreign experts from UK, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and other countries. Addressing on the occasion, Professor Zafarullah Chaudhry, President, CPSP said the college is the only institution of Pakistan providing specialists with high standards of training and also struggling hard to make up the deficiency of specialists in the country.
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Senior Vice President said that CPSP has provided specialists doctors to the people and armed forces of this country and this process will continue within its resources. The provision of training of CPSP's trainees according to international standards is the foremost priority of the College, he added. Pre-conference workshops were also conducted at the center simultaneously. These workshops were on developing holistic and integrated assessment in competency-based education, direct observation of procedural skills (DOPS), Mini-clinic evaluation exercise (Mini CEX) and professionalism and these workshops were facilitated by Dr Gominda Ponnamperuma from Sri Lanka, Dr Mike Halissey and Dr Dason Evans from UK and DR. Shahid Hasan from Malaysia respectively.
