Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) in collaboration with Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre, Peshawar arranged a two-day Gem Bazaar at Nishtar Hall. President of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Haji Mohammad Afzal inaugurated the Gem Bazaar. Those who present were Senior Vice President SCCI, Mohammad Iqbal and Vice President, Abidullah Yousafzai.
After the inauguration of the bazaar, the SCCI chief along with the organisers visited different stalls where he was briefed regarding the training and manufacturing in gems and jewellery sector. He also collected firsthand information about precious and semi-precious stones put on display at various stalls.
Speaking on the occasion, Haji Mohammad Afzal assured full co-operation for development of gems and jewellery sector and said that nature has blessed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the huge reserves of precious and semi-precious stones and stressed need for the development of sector under public-private partnership. He further stressed need for the activation of the Gems and Gemological Institute Peshawar (GGIP) and urged All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) and other concerned institutes for its better utilisation.
