Availing direct refund credit facility through banks: registered taxpayers asked to update account numbers
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has again asked the sales tax registered taxpayers to update their account numbers for availing direct refund credit facility through banks. In this regard, the FBR here on Saturday displayed message of ''interbank account number update for direct credit facility - How to Add IBAN Account Numbers'' on its website here on Saturday.
In case you already have 24 Digit IBAN Number then add the IBAN number referring the tradition bank account number along with scan copy of Cheque Number or any transaction, the FBR said. In case you already do not have the IBAN number then the Inter-bank Account Number scan be obtained from the Banks branches where your accounts are already maintained along with copy of letter from bank referring IBAN.
In case you want to change existing bank account number in Registration profile then you need to use IRIS registration 181 form, the FBR said. The IBAN Addition is only for existing accounts already registered with FBR profile.
The FBR has asked the taxpayers that first Login with e-portal and select Add IBAN. Second, verify existing Bank Account Number before adding the IBAN and in case any issue, contact at [email protected]. Thirdly, Add IBAN 22 digits, the FBR added. Last month, the FBR has already asked the sales tax registered taxpayers to provide direct electronic credit of sales tax refunds into their accounts from November 2016. The FBR had issued requests to the taxpayers for providing IBANs (International Bank Account Numbers) for direct electronic credit of sales tax refund.
For this purpose, the updated bank account numbers have been sought from the taxpayers registered with the sales tax department. The FBR said that the Computerised Sales Tax Refund Office (CSTRO) FBR is working with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for automation of direct credit of sales tax refund to the bank accounts of refund claimants. In this regard, the format of bank account numbers required by the SBP, for the direct credit system is 24 digit IBAN format International Bank Account Number. Taxpayers are, therefore, requested to add/update the IBAN of your primary bank account used for the FBR refund transaction.
