Aimed at educating media persons regarding gender sensitive reporting, democracy, governance, development and conflict sensitive journalism, a non-government organisation has completed special training programme for electronic and print media journalists.
The non-government organisation Individualland Pakistan (IL-Pakistan) recently started working on an International Media Support (IMS) supported initiative titled Support to Media in Pakistan. IMS is the lead agency in implementing the programme which is administered and funded by the Danish Embassy in Pakistan.
Under the initiative organisation conducted Training of Trainers (TOT) on four thematic areas development journalism, conflict sensitive journalism, gender sensitive reporting and democracy and governance. In these trainings journalists were trained as master trainers and then these master trainers conducted five-day boot camp trainings for journalists on the thematic areas in Karachi, Peshawar, DI Khan and Hyderabad.
Participants were of the view that these thematic areas are very important and essential for modern day journalism. They further said the government and media house owners also needed to arrange such training as it very beneficial for journalists. "I have never attended such training before, through this training I have learnt a lot of new things regarding democracy and governance and the other thematic areas and such trainings should also be held in the future," said a participant attending training at Hyderabad.
Nasir Hussain, Aqsa Junejo, Nasir Hussain, Fazal-ur-Rehman, Akhtar Javed Shah and Manzoor Soomro were the moderators at the training organised by IL Pakistan in various parts of the country.
Meanwhile, IL-Pakistan also organised sensitisation session recently in Karachi's area of Korangi under its initiative in partnership with Development Alternatives Incorporatives (DAI) Karachi Donates Safely for bringing awareness among people that how militant organisations use donations for their own extremist activities.-PR
