Five persons, including two women were killed, while dozens injured due to heavy smog engulfing Faisalabad division. The major accident took place at Motorway near Pansara, where two cars were collided each other, resultantly, Afiya Iqbal and her son Astro Iqbal died on the spot. Iqbal Hussain, Hamayun and Ghulam Akhir-uz-Zman of Multan and Dr Adnan Ashraf and his mother Shaiysta Bibi injured seriously and shifted to nearby hospitals. Two of them reported to be serious. Three persons also killed in different road mishaps due to non-visibility and heavy smog.
Meanwhile, more than 230 persons most of them old age shifted to various hospitals for medical treatment, who were affected heavy smog.
DCO Faisalabad Salman Ghani stressed upon the citizens to adopt all precautionary measures during the thick blanket of fog or rather smog and use face mask while travelling. especially on motorcycle. He was distributing safety face masks among the citizens on different other busiest roads and said to the general public and motorcyclists to cover their nose and mouth and worn protective glasses and helmet so they could safe from eye infection, itchy skin, headache and other diseases. He said although the effects of smog not much harmful but people should care their health. He said to people to avoid unnecessary travelling while kept house, offices and vehicles windows closed and ensured that the smog is not getting inside on enclosed room or space. The DCO said the City District government had arranged special cure arrangements in hospitals for treatment of smog infected people.
He said the health of people is the utmost preference of the City District government and all out resources for awareness of public has been utilised during smog days.
