Copies of Shehbaz, Sanaullah's affidavits to be provided to PAT by Oct 24, LHC assured

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) was assured on Tuesday that copies of affidavit, submitted by former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif and former law minister Rana Sanaullah and others during the judicial inquiry conducted by the LHC into the Model Town incident, would be provided to the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) by October 24.

The assurance was given by a law officer on behalf of the Punjab government before Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, who was hearing a petition filed by Jawwad Hamid of PAT.

The petitioner had pleaded that he approached the Home Department several times for supply of copies of the affidavits but his request was turned down every time.

He pointed out that a request was also made to Punjab chief secretary but he also showed his inability to provide the required copies and advised the petitioner to approach the LHC registrar's office for the purpose.

The petitioner requested the court to direct the Punjab government to provide copies of affidavits of Shehbaz, Rana Sanaullah and others.
