qaim-ali-shahKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Rs 12 billion Waseela-i-Haq Sindh programme woul usher in a new era in the province, create jobs and boost economic activities.

He was speaking at the launch of Waseela- e-Haq Sindh under BISP, computer balloting and distribution of cheques among BISP beneficiaries at Bilawal House here Friday. President Asif Ali Zardari launched the programme by pressing the button for computer balloting and distributed cheques. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister said that about 35,000 educated unemployed youth would get the opportunity to set up their own business under Waseela-e- Haq scheme which means that overall 250,000 people will be benefitted by it.

He said they would create indirect jobs in the province thus boosting the economic activity.

Qaim Ali Shah pointed out that the Sindh government has spent Rs 21 billion to support the flood victims in Sindh.

He said that so far Rs 100 billion have been spent on the welfare of poor in the entire country under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

He said that the government was implementing PPP manifesto as envisioned by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in true spirit.

Sindh CM said that opposition and other people were resorting  to propaganda only while the government was actually helping the people on ground.

He said the people would reject the propaganda against the government and vote for PPP in the coming elections.

BISP Chairperson Farzana Raja said that Waseela-e-Haq Sindh has been initiated on the instructions of President Asif Ali Zardari to help the educated unemployed youth in Sindh.

She said that young people have been selected purely on merit and without any approach or bribe.

She pointed out that the particulars of applicants have been certified by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) while Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, having expertise in micro financing, will provide counselling, training to the beneficiaries and help them in establishing their business.

She said services of Sindh Bank would be utilised for disbursement of loans to beneficiaries and entire Rs 12 billion will reach the selected successful applicants.

She made it clear that loans were not given to party workers.
