KARACHI: Sindh Education department has decided in principle to regularize the jobs of 5800 contract-teachers working in various districts of province, Business Recorder learnt on Wednesday.
This decision was taken during a meeting held in the chair of Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq here at his office a few days back, sources said.
The meeting reviewed the over all performance of contract teachers and decided that a bill would be drafted for the final approval from the Sindh assembly, sources said.
Later, a team of officials of education department drafted a bill in this regard with consultation of law experts of provincial law department, sources said.
The Education department recommended the Sindh assembly to make regular 5800 contract-teachers working since last three years with good performance, sources said.
The officials of Education department submitted said bill at the office of Secretary Sindh Assembly Hadi Bux Buriro for further process, sources added.
In this connection, reliable sources inside the Sindh Assembly told this scribe that the bill of education department would be included in the agenda of current assembly session.
The session of Sindh assembly is continued since last many days and it would be resumed today on Wednesday with gape of only two days.
Sources said that 5800 teachers including High School Teachers (HST), Junior School Teachers (JST) and Primary School Teachers (PST) were appointed on the contract of three years.
While, education department had extended their contract for six months on the completion of previous contract, sources added.
The six months contract of 5800 teachers would be completed on 31st January 2011, and the bill will give approval to the Sindh government to make regular their jobs, sources said.
It may be noted here that the 5800 contracts-teachers had registered their strong protest in various districts with demand of regularization of their jobs.
