PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti Saturday said promotion of education, especially women was the topmost priority of the government and focus has been made to provide all necessary facilities to students in government schools.
He expressed these views after laying foundation stone for construction of two girls high and a boys school at CMH Road and addressing a function at Government Centennial Girls Model School at Canal Road Mardan.
The Chief Minister said that his government was focusing on provision of all the facilities' to the students studying in government schools. Under 'Stoori Da Pakhtunkhwa Program', the top ten position holders in SSC and Intermediate of different education boards were given Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 scholarships respectively, which was meant to impart higher education to the new generation.
The Chief Minister said that despite limited facilities at government schools the students were showing good results.
Similarly Rokhana Pukhtunkhwa Scheme has also been launched under which two boy and two girls private schools would be selected from two union councils in different districts where government schools did not exist, adding the government would bear the education expenses of the students of the selected schools.
The CM said that before his government there was no university and a medical college in Mardan but today with the blessing of Allmighty Allah, Abdul Wali Khan University and Baacha Medical College were functioning while four more girls degree colleges would be commissioned during current year in the district.
He stressed upon the students to concentrate on their studies as the nation pinned high hopes on them for earning fame for the country and achieve a prominent position among comity of nations. Commisssioner Mardan, Muhammad Adil Khan, DIG, Alam Shinwari and other high ranking officials were also present on the occasion.
