KARACHI: A high level business delegation of Czech Republic will visit Pakistan in May to hold meetings with Pakistani counterparts for joint ventures in energy, coal mining, technical training, health, and agriculture and livestock sectors.
This was stated by the president of Czech Middle-Asian Chamber of Commerce (CSOK) Jiri Nestaval while talking to newsman at a get together here on Tuesday evening.
Managing director Pegasus Consultancy Aamer Khanzada and Advisor to President CSOK Milan Dvorak were also present on the occasion.
"We want to bring in European technology in Pakistan, train Pakistani engineers and technicians in many fields and improve the efficiencies in power sector. We also have a technology to convert oil-fired power plants to coal", he added.
He said the purpose of his first ever visit to Pakistan was to explore business potential and offer technology transfer under joint ventures Pakistani government as well as private sector.
Nestaval said that Czech companies produce high quality products which are marketed in entire European Union. Our companies manufacture top quality merchandises and machinery. Besides, we can also offer technology to Pakistani companies for improving their quality to meet world standards and lift up their competitiveness in the global market, he added.
He said that Pakistani exporters can produce high quality value added exportable items including textiles, food, leather products, pharmaceuticals with the help of Czech technology and earning more foreign exchange for their country.
He said Pakistani products are of good quality, yet their standards can be further improved for fetching good prices in the international market.
Responding to a question, Nestaval said that he feels comfortable in Pakistan and see no threat. "People are very friendly and full of hospitality. This is English speaking nation and Czech businessmen are interested in having joint ventures with Pakistani counterparts", he noted.
He said the Czech Central-Asian Chamber of Commerce, with the cooperation of its official Pakistani partner Pegasus Consultancy Ltd has opened up a permanent office based in Karachi.
Reciprocally a permanent office of Pegasus Consultancy Ltd was opened in the Czech Republic at the residence of the Czech Central-Asian Chamber of Commerce in Prague.
The newly opened offices both in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and Prague are destined to help and support Czech and Pakistani businessman connect commercially and secure a quick and safe entry on both the Central European and Central Asian market, he added.
He said Czech Republic is located in the middle of Europe while Pakistan is placed in the middle of Asia. This can be an ideal combination for creating a bridge to connect these two markets, he observed.
CSOK president pointed out that he has discussed with the Governor of Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan the possibilities of improving infrastructure, sewerage system including water treatment and security in Karachi.
To a question, Nestaval said he had discussed with FPCCI the holding of single country exhibition of Pakistan in Prague in September while similar exhibition of Czech products can be organised in Pakistan.
