ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would not allow anyone to promote horse-trading in politics.

Talking to newsmen at Bhutto Cricket Ground here, where she watched a match between two local cricket clubs, Firdous said Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had jointly made some commitments for the promotion of democracy in the country and the PPP was still following that agenda.

"Confrontation is not in the interest of anyone and all of us should pay our attention towards resolving the problems being faced by the common man," she said.

Replying to a question regarding US national Raymond Davis, she said that the stance of the PPP-led government was clear on the matter that the courts would decide his fate.

To another question she said that negotiations between political parties were the beauty of democracy which always give good results.

Dr. Firdous said that the PPP never preferred personal interests over national ones.

Talking about the promotion of sports culture in the country, the minister said that everyone should take part in some kind of healthy activities as work and sports must go side by side.

Expressing her best wishes for Pakistan Cricket Team in the ICC World Cup, she said that every player must learn from mistakes which will ultimately result in success.

Firdous Ashiq Awan also urged women journalists to participate in the sports activity.
