Indian parliamentary delegation warmly welcomed in Senate

imtrewqISLAMABAD: A parliamentary delegation comprising members of both house of the Indian parliament was warmly welcomed by the Senate Chairman and the Members when it arrived in the Parliament House to witness proceedings of the Upper House.

Upon their arrival, Chairman, Farooq H. Naek welcomed the delegation comprising members of the Indian Rajia Sabha (Upper House and Lok Sabha (Lower House) and hoped that such visit would strengthen people to people contact who were desirous of peace between both the countries.

He said that the visit of the Indian Parliamentary delegation was commendable and was a goodwill gesture.

Leader of the House, Syed Nayyar Bokhari, on behalf of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Coalition parties and the members welcomed the delegation.

He said that views expressed by the different political parties should be taken as suggestions to improve relations between the two countries.

Nayyar Bokhari said that the sentiments expressed by the members were the feelings of the people of the two countries. He said that this delegation would go a long way in improving the relations and help resolve all outstanding issues between India and Pakistan. Senator Babir Baloch, on behalf of PPP and its Chairman, President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed the delegation.

Leaders of the Parliamentary Party of JUI (F), Maulana Ghafoor Haidri, Dr. Malik of National Party, Col (Retd) Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of MQM, Zahid Khan of ANP, Abdul Raheem Mandokhel, Prof Khurshied Ahmed of Jamat e- Islami, Ms. Kalsoom of Balochistan National Party, Raja Zafarul Haq of PML-N and Ms. Nilofar Bukhtiar of PML-Q vehemently welcomed the delegation and expressed the confidence that this visit would help improve relations between India and Pakistan.

The Parliamentary Leaders also asked the members of the delegation to carry the message of people of Pakistan who believed in co-existence and wanted good neighbourly relations with India.

They were unanimous in saying that all the core issues including Kashmir, water, Sir Creek and Siachin should be resolved in peaceful manners and through dialogue.

They said that resources of the both countries should be utilized for the welfare of the people of the two countries especially on health, education and development projects.
