Security adviser Nasser Khan Janjua tenders resignation

Pakistan's National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Nasser Khan Janjua resigned on Wednesday.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division,Janjua had sent his resignation to caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk which has been accepted by him.

According to local media reports, Janjua resigned as he thought it was not ‘morally correct’ for him to stay in office after the previous government Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) completed its tenure.

The previous ruling government of PML-N had appointed Janjua as the security adviser. Janjua had replaced Sartaj Aziz on Oct 23, 2015,
