NAIROBI: Kenya's central bank, keen to stem the shilling's fall this year, said on Monday it was in the market seeking to take out 4.5 billion shillings ($51.9 million) through repurchase agreements.
The bank, which was criticised for failling to support the shilling earlier last year, has so far hoovered up a total of 21.2 billion shillings ($243 million) through repurchase agreements and sold an unspecified amount of dollars this month.
