LAHORE: World Health Organization (WHO) will organize an International Conference of Dengue next month in Lahore, in which various medical experts, epidemiologists and entomologists from different countries will participate.
This was stated by the WHO's Focal Person on Dengue for region, Dr. Ali R. Mafi during a meeting with Secretary Health, Muhammad Jehanzeb Khan. Dr. Ali R. Mafi is currently on a visit to Lahore from Egypt to finalize the arrangements of the international conference. He said, the conference would provide technical assistance to the Health Department Punjab to overcome Dengue issue.
During his visit Dr. Mafi will exchange views with the senior officers of the health department and consult with principals of medical colleges on Dengue.
Welcoming the holding of International Conference on Dengue by WHO in Lahore, Secretary Health said that it would provide opportunities for international level consultancy with medical experts and epidemiologists which would help to evolve strategy for effective dengue control.
The Secretary Health apprised him of the government efforts and steps taken for the eradication of dengue mosquito and treatment of dengue patients.
Jehanzeb Khan said the Health Department and the Punjab government was already working with its international partners and the government had sought close cooperation of experts of Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries.
He assured WHO's Focal Person, Dr. Ali R. Mafi for complete cooperation of the Punjab government as well as Health Department.
