MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-N supreme leader and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday expressed confidence that the people of South Punjab would support and vote to the PML-N in the upcoming general election on the basis of unprecedented developmental work by the party.

Addressing a public meeting at Qasim Bagh stadium here, he said it was heartening to see a massive crowd at the venue, adding it was clear proof of peoples' confidence in the PML-N, the most popular political party of the country.

He challenged those who claimed to have support of South Punjab masses to come and observe to whom the people of South Punjab support, which was obviously the PML-N.

"On May-11, 2013, the people of Pakistan had mandated PML-N and after five years I am, once again, with you on same day," he recalled.

He stated that PML-N had always honoured its promises made with the people of the country during its election campaign and as per the manifesto of the party.

He recalled that when PML-N elected to the government back in 2013, there was 18-hour long electricity loadshedding, adding the present government had overcome long outages, reducing it to negligible duration.

Nawaz Sharif promised to make Pakistan a beautiful and prosperous country if voted to power again.

Sharif said motorway from Peshawar via Islamabad and Lahore was about to reach Multan soon.

He appreciated Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif for uplift projects including infrastructure, metro bus service, health and education reforms for South Punjab.

Those who were claiming of making 'new Pakistan' were failed to complete even a single project of metro bus in Peshawar, he said.

Nawaz Sharif said he was inspired by the passion shown by the Multaniites today that he wished to live rest of his life in Multan.

On this occasion, senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi announced to rejoin PML-N under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

Earlier, addressing the rally, Maryam Nawaz criticised PTI chief Imran Khan, saying that he would once again level allegations of rigging after 2018 general elections.

She claimed that PML-N would defeat its rival political parties with huge margin in the election.

She stated that wherever PTI held public meeting, the same crowd participate in it, while wherever Nawaz Sharif stands the venue converts into a mammoth public meeting of locals.

Maryam observed that some elements tried to hatch conspiracies against PML-N, adding that Nawaz Sharif would never give up serving the people of Pakistan.

PML-N leaders and parliamentarians Mian Javed Latif, Javed Ali Shah, Sikandar Bosan, Shaheen Shafiq, Rai Mansab, Shoukat Bosan, Mayor Naveed-ul-Arain and others were present on the occasion.
