Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz’s (PML-N) lawmakers from south Punjab, who quit the party weeks ago, officially joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday.

The announcement came with party chief Imran Khan holding a joint conference along side PML-N leader Khusro Bakhtiar and others. Khan welcomed the new members who joined his party.

Addressing the media, Bakhtiar said that the lawmakers had no other option then joining PTI. He added that Khan had promised to a separate south Punjab province during his Lahore rally.

Khan also addressed the media and said, "A separate province is not enough and we will form a committee to solve South Punjab's issues"

On Tuesday, PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry had confirmed that the lawmakers from south Punjab will officially announce their union with the party soon.

On April 9, PML-N lawmakers including members of National Assembly and members of Parliament left the party, saying that they will create a separate province for southern Punjab.

The PTI chief had voiced his support for a separate south Punjab province and said that the senior leaders who have parted ways with PML-N have a right to demand for a new province.
