OTTAWA: Canadian housing starts slowed in April, as expected, as groundbreaking on both detached and multiple unit homes decreased, data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation showed on Tuesday.
The seasonally adjusted annual rate of starts fell to 214,379 in April from March's upwardly revised 225,459. Economists had forecast starts would decline to 220,000 homes.
