GILGIT: Chief Minister (CM) Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said Tuesday government was committed to providing all basic facilities of life to the people of the area.

Addressing a public gathering in Tangir area, the GB CM said recommendations of the Committee were in final stages which would pave way for making new districts including Darel and Tangir in GB which would help address all the pending issues of the area.

He said that PML(N) had always worked for the welfare of people and would continue serving the masses, adding the PML(N) was the only party which laid development network worth Rs 13 in Diamir district.

He said that the government was also undertaking development initiatives in Tangir area and feasibility report of 10 Megawatt hydropower project was being prepared, adding eight doctors were provided to the Tangir area besides setting up a separate wing for women patients in Tangir hospital.

He said a modern medical laboratory would be set up in the area in two months and patients need not travel other cities for medical tests.

He said that as many as 67000 health cards had been given to the deserving people of Gilgit Baltisan and the needy people had access to best medical facilities in its wake.

He said that secretary health had been directed to launch awareness campaign about the health cards in order to maximum people might benefit from the scheme.

He also announced to construct link roads upto Tangir Headquarters, adding degree college status would be granted to inter college next year.
