Accountability court seeks more time to conclude trial against Sharifs

An accountability court hearing the references against the Sharif family filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), has requested the Supreme Court to grant it more time to conduct the proceedings.
According to local media reports, accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir has requested the SC to extend the deadline. This is the second time that the judge has asked for another extension, which was granted in March.
The accountability court had been given a two-month's extension to wrap up the case. The federal government approved had also extended Judge Bashir's tenure to three years. The judge will serve at his post till 2021.

During the proceeding, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's counsel Khawaja Haris suggested to the judge that the SC should consider granting a three-month extension. The judge replied that SC will decide the time limit.
Meanwhile, Judge Bashir also announced that the decision on all three references against Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar will be announced together.
