Miftah proposes tax rationalization on coal import

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Dr. Miftah Ismail Friday proposed rationalizing tax rate on import of coal and maintaining the duty rate at four percent.

Presenting federal budget for the year 2018-19, he said currently tax on import of coal was payable at the rate of 5.5pc for companies and 6pc for persons other than companies.

“In order to decrease cost of production it is proposed that the rate of tax may be reduced to 4pc,” the minister said.
