ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will fulfill its academic responsibility of promoting awareness among the general public about the intellectual property rights, that is an essential part of strengthening a fair trade regime.
In this connection, a seminar on ‘Trade related aspects of intellectual property rights’ will be held here at the AIOU’s main campus next week, a press release said on Thursday.
The event will be arranged in connection with the World Intellectual Property Day, that was celebrated on April 26.
This is part of the University’s regular activities to address the socio-economic problems of the society, as per the vision of the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui.
It is imperative to keep the young generation (students) aware about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
It is also a step towards promotion of innovation and creativity in the educational pursuits, the announcement added.
This year’s World Intellectual Property Day campaign celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage of the women who are driving change in our world and shaping our common future.
