IHC reserves judgment in daily wages teachers' case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday reserved its judgment in a case of daily wage teachers of federal government educational institutions seeking regularization of their services.
A divisional bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani reserved the decision.
During the course of proceedings, Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed the bench that the government wanted to regularize services of daily wage teachers during its tenure.
Several daily wage and contractual employees had been regularized under the 2011 regularization policy and given postings, he added.
The minister admitted that the daily wage teachers had faced discrimination and the government could understand their problems.
To a court query, the minister said the 2011 policy regarding regularization of employees was right. The government , he said, wanted to post the employees against vacant posts after their regularization.
The court directed the minister to submit a written reply and reserved its judgment.
It may be mentioned here that the daily wage teachers, in their petition, had adopted the stance that a notification regarding their regularization had been issued but they were not being posted as regular employees.
