Shoaib Akhtar pleads with people to leave Steve Smith alone

Pakistan renowned fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has pleaded to the fans and media to leave the disgraced Australian batsman Steve Smith alone, after the Rawalpindi Express expressed that he was ‘gutted’ to see Smith breaking down at the presser.

“At least Steve Smith has the courage to admit like a man but absolutely gutted to see Steve Smith breaking down at the press conference and also the way people treating him at the airport and in Australia is sad. Leave that poor chap alone now,” added Akhtar on social media.

The former Australian skipper Smith broke down in tears and accepted complete responsibility for the ball-tampering incident.

The disgraced skipper alongside vice-captain David Warner were banned from playing cricket for Australia for a year over a cheating scandal that has rocked the sport and dragged their side’s reputation through the mud.
