CJP should not have called PM 'faryadi': Nawaz Sharif

Referring to the recent meeting of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the CJP's use of the word supplicant (Faryadi) did not suit his reputation and that he should have stuck to his statement and not backtracked.
Earlier in the week, the PM and CJP had met and after their meeting Justice Nisar had said, “Many people approach the judiciary for supplication and we listen to them all.” This had raised criticism from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
However, on Thursday the Supreme Court had clarified that Justice Nisar had never used the word supplicant (faryadi) for the PM. “The chief justice has regard for the prime minister.”
Sharif also said that he was certain of one thing about former president Pervez Musharraf's treason case and that was Musharraf's trial will reach a logical conclusion one day. "Musharraf will have to come and face the court one day," he said.
The corruption hearing against the Sharifs in Avenfield reference is currently underway in an accountability court as Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia is being cross examined by the defendants counsel.
Deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar had appeared before the court as Judge Muhammad Bashir heads the court proceedings. Later the duo left the court premises.
