USC provides Rs4200mn as subsidy to people during last FY

utility-storesISLAMABAD: The Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan (USC) has provided Rs 4200.000 million to the people of Pakistan as subsidy during the year 2010-11, said Minister for Industries Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi.

In a written reply to the question of Waseem Akhtar Sheikh in National Assembly here he said, the USC had provided Rs 2700.000 million and Rs 1400.000 million as subsidy during 2008-9 and 2009-10 respectively.

He said the USC has earned Rs 840.500 million as profit during the last financial year. While the net profit of the corporation remained Rs 452.050 million and 708.864 million during 2008-9 and 2009-10 respectively.

The sales of USC were 48,734.840 million, Rs 52,32.188 million and 65,000.000 million during 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively while the expenditures were 2202.248 million, 2695.136 million and 3070.000 million respectively during the year 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11.

USC has spent Rs 24.410 million on advertisements during 2010-11 and Rs 30.000 million, Rs 27.720 million during 2008-09 and 2009-10 respectively.

Answering the question of Ms Tasneem Siddique, the minister said 14425 employees are working in USC currently while the number of employees working in USC in 1999 was 2209 and 11378 in 2008.
