LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the Punjab government has allocated Rs 1.25 billion in the budget for three projects in Balochistan.

"A technical college will be established in Kharan, a community centre will be set up in Taftan and the 100-bed hospital will also be constructed in Turbat," said the CM during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan here on Wednesday.

He reiterated that Punjab will continue to serve the people in Balochistan and added that the development of Balochistan is as important as that of Punjab. He assured the Balochistan Chief Minister that Punjab will make every effort to serve the people of Balochistan and funds have been provided to restore the mausoleum of Mir Chakar-e-Azam Rind in Okara.

"The Punjab government will continue to cooperate in the development of Balochistan and inter-provincial harmony will be further promoted," he added.

According to him, the Punjab government has taken all necessary steps to overcome the spread of the Coronavirus and to save crops from the locust attack. "The line departments are further directed to ensure the safety of crops from the next possible locust attack," he added.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan thanked the Punjab Chief Minister for the cooperation and both agreed to take collective steps for saving crops from locust attack and eradication of the virus. "We consider Punjab as our home and the inter-provincial harmony is needed more than ever," he added.

On the occasion, Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, Samiullah Chaudhary MPA, Balochistan Chief Secretary Fazeel Asghar, ACS (Infrastructure), ACS (Home) and Secretary HR and Minorities' Affairs were also present. Meanwhile, during a meeting with Additional Chief Secretary (South) Zahid Akhtar Zaman and Additional IG Police (South) Inam Ghani, the Punjab Chief Minister said that the Southern Punjab Secretariat will provide necessary relief to the locals.

"By establishing Southern Punjab Secretariat, the PTI government fulfilled its promise made to the people. The people in south Punjab seeking relief will no longer need to travel to Lahore," he said. He further said that 33 percent of the development budget has been earmarked for southern Punjab and Rs 1.5 billion are reserved for the Southern Punjab Secretariat.
