Sohail Khan spills the secrets of how to counter batsmen

Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Khan, who last represented Pakistan in 2017 against the World XI and will be seen in action in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 for Lahore Qalandars, disclosed about the bowling practices used by fast bowlers in today’s cricket.

Talking to Pakistan former captain turned commentator Ramiz Raja, Sohail said it is more about countering the attack of the batsmen, rather than exhibiting aggression on the field.

“Nowadays, fast bowling is not about how aggressive the bowler is, as one needs to be smart and experienced to know what one should be doing. If a batsman is attacking, you need to counter it by reading him mentally,” said Sohail.

He further said that these days batsmen don’t shy away from hitting the fast bowler from a good length, so its crucial to keep them guessing till he last moment.

“Earlier, we were told if you make up your mind to bowl a yorker, then deliver a yorker, but now we can change our plans till we jump and bowl accordingly,” he said.

After his break, the bowler will be seen in action in the upcoming third edition of PSL, which is scheduled to commence from February 22 in Dubai. The opening match will be played between defending champions Peshawar Zalmi and PSL latest franchise Multan Sultans.
