MUMBAI: The rupee opened stronger on Friday on hopes an improving US economy will bolster capial flows into riskier emerging markets such as India.
The rupee started at 52.69 to the dollar, firmer than Thursday's close of 52.72/73.
The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless
benefits hit a 3-1/2 year low last week, bolstering views the economy was gaining momentum, even though third-quarter growth was revised down.
