Soybeans, corn firm as dollar turns lower

Published Updated

CHICAGO: Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures rose to a one-month high on Wednesday, firming after a weak start as a weakening dollar provided opportunities for investors to cover short positions, traders said.

Corn futures also turned higher on the weak dollar, but gains were limited by concerns about dry weather limiting the size of the harvest in South America.

At 11:45 a.m. CST (1645 GMT), CBOT January soybeans were up 10-1/2 cents at $11.55 a bushel. CBOT March corn was up 6-1/4 cents at $6.13-1/4 a bushel.
