Pakistan has assured Bangladesh of providing high-level security to its team on the pattern of visiting heads of state to bring international cricket to the country. "The Interior Ministry, the government of Punjab and Sindh have given a detailed presentation and demonstration to Bangladesh delegation regarding security arrangements.
The Interior Ministry would put in place security arrangements which they make for visiting heads of state to Pakistan for the cricket team of Bangladesh," said a senior official while talking to Business Recorder.
He said Bangladesh team would be provided "box security" with bullet-proof and bomb-proof vehicles, while police commandoes would be deputed to escort them. "Interior Ministry, government of Punjab and Sindh is all onboard regarding the security arrangement for the Bangladesh cricket team," he said. The official said that federal and provincial government would be equally responsible in case of any mishap because all were stakeholders and taken onboard to ensure security to the expected forthcoming visit of Bangladesh cricket team. The Bangladesh delegation, returned to country on March 5, would brief its government before making a final decision on the tour, he said.
General Manager (GM) Media Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) when contacted said that government would provide foolproof security to Bangladesh cricket team. Regarding security of the both the teams there would be zero tolerance, as the government desired that foreign teams should begin to visit Pakistan again. Bangladesh delegation headed by BCB Chief visited Karachi and Lahore and expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements, he said. Foreign teams have refused to tour Pakistan since 2009 when militants attacked the Sri Lankan team while the team was on its way from their hotel to the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
