Innovation cell established at PCRWR

A Commercialisation and Innovation Cell (CIC) has been established at Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) with the objective to observe quality control parameters in water related issues. CIC is established under national and international guidelines and standards and the salient feature of this state-of-the-art facility is to manufacture, market and sale the products and services of PCRWR.
Talking to APP, Chairman PCRWR Muhammad Aslam Tahir said development of commercializable products, services and technologies in Pakistan is a challenging task particularly with reference to public sector organisations.
He said the substantial slash in public-sector funding to carry out Research and Development (R&D) activities has necessitated to the effective and efficient utilisation of the existing infrastructure, equipment, expertise, human resources and other facilities to develop and market the products and services.
Chairman PCRWR said: "PCRWR took a leading initiative in accordance with its mandate entrusted through its Act to commercialise its research and development results from the sales of the products, patents and services as well as collaboration with other organisation in water related disciplines".
Considering the fact that the innovation is a key factor for national industrial competitiveness, CIC is closely working in liaison with industry, international agencies, business entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, he said. CIC is providing a platform to market the products/services and also encouraging other business players to invest in the development of technologies that are suited to indigenous materials and local conditions in various areas of Water Quantity. PCRWR has also inaugurated first Sales Point at its head-office in Islamabad to provide an outlet facility to the common people for its services and products. The Sales Point is acting as marketing tool for products and services of PCRWR, which are quite competitive and cost effective with an excellence in quality.
