Jubilation on Shahi Syed's arrival turns violent: seven injured in firing

The celebration on the arrival of newly elected senator and ANP Sindh chief Shahi Syed in Karachi has made the lives of the citizens miserable, following the massive gridlocks and armed clash, leaving seven persons injured at different junctions of Shahrah Faisal on Monday.
Police sources said although the newly elected senator Shahi Syed in his address claimed to take efforts for maintaining peace in Karachi, several parts of the city including Quiadbad, Kati Pahari, Malir Kalapul, Landhi, Ibrahim Hyderi and others engulfed in severe wave of tension where unidentified armed men took to streets and resorted to heavy gunshots, leaving seven persons including a woman injured.
They said the injured persons were identified as Taj Bibi, 70, Wali Aman, 60, Shah Mast Ali, 10, son of Syed Ali, Gul Akbar, 60, son of Hamaish Gul, Qadir Bux, 30, son of Ghulam Hussain, Saleem Khan, 25, son of Kalo Khan and Shareef Khan, 30, son of Hassan Khan. The injured persons were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment. There were also unconfirmed reports that three petrol pumps were also looted at Sharah Faisal but no police official has so far confirmed the incidents.
According to details, scores of ANP workers took rallies at Site, Orangi, Banaras and Quaidabad and gathered at airport to welcome chief ANP Sindh Shahi Syed on his arrival at Karachi after attaining seat in senate elections from Peshawar that created massive gridlocks at Shahrah Faisal since Monday afternoon.
The ANP workers without fear of apprehension resorted to aerial firing at different junctions of the city's main artery to celebrate the success of ANP leader. The ANP workers along with Senator Shahi Syed moved in a form of procession from Airport to Defence Mor where Shahi addressed to his workers. Several armed clashes were also witnessed at different junctions of the Shahrah Faisal as the ANP workers resorted to heavy aerial firing, especially at their rival dominant areas, provoking them to engage in scuffle.
When contacted, DSP Imdad Solangi said the ANP workers, who fired heavy gunshots at Kalapul to celebrate the success of his party leaders, scuffled with rival group, leaving several persons injured. Police sources said the police had also recovered a vehicle, a bike and weapons from the spot. Following the said armed clash, tension prevailed in many parts of the city including Orangi Town, Shah Faisal, Kati Pahari and others where miscreants resorted to heavy gunshots and forced the shopkeepers to pull down their shutters. Later, heavy contingent of police and rangers were deployed in troubled areas to bring situation in control but no letup in this regard was witnessed till filing of this report.
