Taiwan stocks fall

Taiwan stocks fell 0.36 percent in rare Saturday session as investors took profits from recent gains, but still finished this week with a 2 percent gain in the best weekly rise since early December. The main TAIEX index shed 29.60 points to 8,114.44, with heavyweights such as Hon Hai Precision and banks ending lower. The market was open in lieu of a holiday on February 27.
Hon Hai, a major contract manufacturer of Apple, slipped 1.46 percent, dragging down electronics shares by 0.45 percent. Banking shares sank 0.79 percent. The Taiwan dollar rose slightly to stand at T$29.43. Foreign investors were net buyers on Friday, bringing their total buying to T$5.9 billion this month.
