While the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation is embarking on new fumigation drive in the city, sources claimed that no proper strategy could be chalked out in a meeting held in this connection, here on Saturday. Sources said although KMC has announced a fumigation drive but the schedule to carry out the campaign was not discussed in the meeting.
They claimed that several meetings were held during last six months with regard to extensive fumigation in the city but no cogent plan could be materialised. Sources said KMC has failed twice to carry out fumigation drive in the city despite making public the schedule of the campaign.
The Saturday's meeting was chaired by Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan and attended among others by Senior Director Health Services KMC and District Municipal Commissioners. When contacted, Senior Director Health Services Dr Shoukat Zaman told Business Recorder that they only decided to carry out fumigation drive in the city while a strategy to materialise the decision would be chalked out soon. He refused to comment when asked about the failure of past campaigns.
